Description:		In this hour long video recording that is transcribed and translated into Spanish and English, Äwa tells of several early conflicts during the days of first contact with colonists. He also describes several hunting incidents. We would like to thank Chris Canady and his wife Teresa Shiki for kindly letting us video-tape on the grounds of the Parque Omaere.
		En esta videograbación de una hora que se transcribe y se traduce a español e inglés, Äwa principalmente describe varios ataques específicos contra los primeros colonos que entraron en el territorio de los Waorani y un ataque contra otro grupo de Waorani. Nos gustaría dar las gracias a Chris Canady y su esposa Teresa Shiki por la amabilidad de dejarnos grabar el vídeo sobre la base de la Omaere Parque.
		En el 2011, comienza el proyecto colaborativo Waorani entre: el investigador Casey High, de la Universidad Goldsmiths de Londres; la investigadora norteamericana Connie Dickinson; y los jóvenes Waorani Ramón Gaba, Jorge Gaba y Oswando Nenquimo, como documentalistas nativos. La meta del proyecto es registrar prácticas culturales que cubran una amplia gama de tópicos y contextos -desde historias tradicionales y rituales, hasta conversaciones cotidianas de la vida diaria-. Otra meta del proyecto es producir una base de datos con un léxico de al menos 6000 palabras y un bosquejo gramatical de la lengua. El proyecto tenía el financiamiento de Hans Rausing Endangered Language Fund, SOAS, London por tres años.
		In 2011, the collaborative project Waorani started, involving the researcher Casey High, from Goldsmiths University of London, the north American researcher Connie Dickinson, and the young Waorani, Ramón Gaba, Jorge Gaba and Oswando Nenquimo as native documentalists. The main objective of the project is to register cultural practices that cover a broad range of topics and contexts, from rituals and traditional stories to daily life conversations. The project also aims at producing a database including a lexicon of at least 6000 words as well as a grammatical outline of the language. The project received funding from the Hans Rausing Endangered Language Fund, SOAS, London, for three years.
		In this video Äwa describes in detail several conflicts between the the Waorani and the first colonists who invaded their territory. He also describes an attack carried out against another group of Waorani. He tells of the Waorani’s reaction when small planes began to appear to throw various goods down to the Waorani and the process by which the Waorani gradually began to interact with outsiders and gather together in larger groups. He also describes how to make a blowgun and describes the hunting of peccary in detail including specific hunting trips. We would like to thank Chris Canady and his wife Teresa Shiki for kindly letting us video-tape on the grounds of the Parque Omaere.
		En este vídeo Äwa describe detalladamente varios ataques realizados por los Waorani contra los primeros colonos y caucheros que invadieron su territorio. También describe un ataque realizado contra otro grupo de Waorani. Cuenta de la reacción de los Waorani cuando los pequeños aviones comenzaron a parecer lanzar varios mercancías abajo a los Waorani y el proceso por el cual los Waorani gradualmente comenzaron a relacionarse con los colonos y recogieron en grupos más grandes. También describe cómo hacer una cerbatana y describe la caza de pecarí detalladamente incluso viajes de caza específicos. Nos gustaría dar las gracias a Chris Canady y su esposa Teresa Shiki por la amabilidad de dejarnos grabar el vídeo sobre la base de la Omaere Parque.
		Oswando Nequimo nació en la comunidad Wao Toñampare. Sus padres son Tiri Nenquimo y Manuela Pauchi. Él es casado con Ima Bogenei y tiene un hijo. Tiene bachillerato con una especialidad en contabilidad. Es un experto en transcripción y traducción y también sabe grabar video y manejar los varios programas de computadora necesarios para un proyecto de documentación. Wao terero es su idioma materno pero también habla español y es alfabetizado en ambos idiomas.
		Oswando Nequimo was born in the Wao community of Toñampare. His parents are Tiri Nenquimo and Manuela Pauchi. He is married to Ima Bogenei and has one son. He has a high school degree with a focus on accounting. He is an expert in transcription and translation and also has training in video recording and the various computer programs necessary for carrying out a documentation project. Wao Terero is his maternal language but he also speaks Spanish and is literate in both languages.
		Uboye Gaba nació en la comunidad Wao Toñampari. Sus padres son Amo Gaba y Ñai Caiga. Es soltero sin compromiso, tiene su bachillerato en contabilidad. Él es fotógrafo y sabe grabar videos, hacer documentales y otros, además experto en transcripción y traducción y sabe manejar varios programas lingüísticos necesarios para un proyecto de documentación. Actualmente está trabajando en un proyecto investigando los ideófonos y gestos en Wao terero. Wao terero es su idioma materno pero también habla español y es alfabetizado en ambos idiomas.
		Uboye Gaba was born in the Wao community of Toñampari. His parents are Amo Gaba and Ñai Caiga. He is single and has a high school degree with a specialization in accounting. He is a photagrapher and is also knowledgeable in video recording, documentation and is an expert in transcription and translation as well as in the various linguistic programs necessary for documentation. He is currently working on a project concerning ideophones and gesture in Wao Terero and is investigating the history of first contact between the Waorani and outsiders. Wao Terero is his maternal language but he also speaks Spanish and is literate in both languages.
		Äwa vive en la comunidad de Bameno. Estaba casado con la finada Omëntoke y tiene siete hijos: Bai, Penti, Gima, Martin, Gomönkaigi, Gomoke y Awäme. Äwa es un guerrero renombrado y es conocido como "el padre del jaguar". Tiene un entendimiento profundo de la cultura de los Waorani incluso: artesania, historia, literatura oral tradicional, caza, pesca y plantas medicinales. Es monlingual; sólo habla Wao Terero.
		Äwa lives in the Wao community of Bameno. He was married to the late Omëntoke and has seven children: Bai, Penti, Gima, Martin, Gomönkaigi, Gomoke and Awäme. Äwa is a renowned warrior and is known as "the father of the jaguar." He has a deep understanding of Wao culture including: arts and crafts, history, oral literature, hunting, fishing and medicinal plants. He is monolingual in Wao Terero.
		Gima Baiwa es la hija de Äwa Baiwa. Tiene hijos y actualamente vive en la Shell, pero nació en Bameno. Ella es un experto sobre artesania, historia y la cultura Wao. Wao terero es su idioma maternal pero también habla castellano.
		Gima Baiwa is the daughter of Äwa Baiwa. She is currently living in Shell with her children. She is in expert in Wao arts and crafts and Wao history and culture. Wao Terero is her maternal language but she also speaks Spanish.
