Description:Translation (Seng Pan & Keita Kurabe) The story I am about to tell is "The Hunter and the Child Dragon." Long ago, a hunter was walking through the forest. There a crow was carrying away a child dragon. The child dragon cried, "Please save me!" Hearing that, he wondered, "Who is crying for help?" When he looked toward the voice, he found the child dragon captured by the crow. He shot the crow with his arrow. When hit by the arrow, the crow released the child dragon it had been holding. The child dragon thanked the hunter, "Hunter, if you hadn't saved me" "I would have died today." "Thank you very much." "What do you desire?" Then, the hunter replied, "I need nothing." The child dragon said, "In that case, let's go to my father." "Since you saved me" "let my father thank you." The child dragon took the hunter to his father. Upon arriving, the child dragon told him all that had happened. The father dragon, very grateful, said, "I'm very thankful to you." "Let me give you gold and silver." But the hunter said, "I need nothing." He simply said. Then, the father dragon insisted, "Even if you want nothing" "since you saved my child" "please accept this mysterious object." "However, if you tell others what you learn from it" "you will turn to stone." He gave him a stone-like object. Holding that stone-like object, the hunter could hear the animals talking. On his way back to the village with the gift from the dragon, he heard birds saying to each other, "Hey, let's flee from this forest!" "Our forest will be involved in a landslide with the nearby village!" "So let's escape!" He heard this through the dragon's gift. The hunter learned of the impending landslide in their village. However, he remembered the father dragon's words, "If you tell others what you've learned" "you will turn to stone." So, he thought, "Hmm, if I don't tell what I know" "and flee the village alone" "only I will survive." "But if I tell the villagers" "only I will die" "and many villagers will be saved." "So, I'll tell the villagers." Upon reaching the village, he warned the villagers, "Hey everyone, our village will soon be caught in a landslide!" "Let's escape quickly!" He told what he had learned. The villagers safely escaped the village and were spared from the landslide. As the father dragon had said, the hunter turned to stone and died for sharing what he knew. But many villagers were saved. They thanked the hunter who sacrificed his life to warn them of the landslide. The villagers always expressed their gratitude and respect to the hunter Transcription (Lu Awng) Ya hkai dan na maumwi gaw "Jau Gawng La hte Baren Kasha" nga ai maumwi re.
