Description:		Translation (Htoi San & Keita Kurabe) I am telling the story of an elephant transformed from a human. Long ago, a daughter of Kumbau married into a family. She lived with her father-in-law, mother-in-law, and children. They lived by tilling the fields. She plucked grass all day long and put it in a hole then covered it with a tree bark and a stone slab. Hereafter, she sewed rags all day long. She wore it and went to the jungle where the fields were. Then she transformed into an elephant. This elephant was transformed from a child of Kumbau Kaw. Therefore, the Kumbau people never ate elephant meat. Since the elephant was a transformed human, even though how strong it was, it could communicate and listen to people. It interacted with people. It helped with human tasks. It's because the elephant was from a human. Once, the elephant asked humans about childbirth. "When you give birth to children" "How long do you carry them before giving birth?" Humans answered about 9 to 10 months. However, it misheard it as 18 to 22 months. Because of the misunderstanding, elephants have a gestation period of 18 to 22 months. Feeling lied to, elephants sometimes detest pregnant humans. They might trample a man whose wife is pregnant, or chase pregnant women, it is said that's the reason why. Nevertheless, we have communicated with elephants since ancestral times. We have lived together, having elephants carry loads. This continues to this day. Transcription (La Ring) Ya tsun na lam gaw "Magwi gaw Shinggyim Masha kaw na tai wa ai lam" re.
