Description: Translation (Rita Seng Mai) This is about three meaningful pieces of advice. Once upon a time, there was a boy who wanted to get rich and learn new skills. So, he traveled to another country and learned those skills. Before he went back, his master told him, "You have a long journey ahead. I will tell you three words. Remember them. If you follow these words, your journey will be a pleasant one." The master said, "The first word is: 'Don't travel without a friend.' The second piece of advice is: 'Don't sleep without a light.' The third piece of advice is: 'Don't take a bath when you come across a river.'" Then the boy started his journey home. On his way, he saw a crab walking in a pool. He thought, "My master told me not to travel without a companion. I will catch this crab and take it with me." So, he caught it and put it in his bag. And he continued his journey. When it was getting dark, he found a house. He thought to himself, "I will stay here for tonight." At that time, an old woman came out of the house. He said, "Grandma, let me stay here for tonight." She said, "That's okay. You can sleep here." There was a bed for him to sleep on, and he lay down on it. All night, the crab kept making noise and moving around. He couldn't sleep because of it. When he opened the bag to check on the crab, he suddenly remembered his master's words. His teacher told him not to sleep without a light, so he lit the light. Then he discovered that the space under his bed was full of bones. He realized, "This old woman couldn't be human. She must be a ghoul." Then he secretly went to the place where the woman was sleeping. He sneaked a look at the woman and saw that she was sleeping with her long teeth exposed. Because he was smart, he quickly grabbed a knife and said, "You're going to eat a man! Don't even dream about it! I will kill you!" The ghoul begged him, "Please don't kill me! I won't eat any humans. Spare me, and I will give you a bag of gold." Then he took the gold bag and went back home. On his way, he came across a refreshing river where many people were taking showers. The water looked so cool and refreshing. He remembered what his master had said: not to take a shower anywhere. So, he fetched some water and took a shower in a place where no one else was bathing. He wanted to get back home badly, so he took a quick shower and changed his clothes. He forgot the bag of gold that the ghoul had given him. He remembered only after he had gone far away. Then he ran back and found the bag right where he had left it. He thought to himself, "My master was right. If I had taken a shower where there were many people, my bag of gold might have been stolen. I got my bag of gold again only because I listened to my master." And he went back home. When he got back home, he told his parents, "My master gave me three valuable pieces of advice.
