Description:Translation (Htoi San) This story is about a brilliant fox. Once upon a time, a very smart fox lived in a hamlet as well as a wolf. An old man and woman were so poor, and they sold their fishing. One day, when the old couple went back from their fishing, the fox pretended to be dead on the way. The fox thought, "When the old man comes back from fishing and sees me, he will pick me up." As he pretended to die, the old man thought he was dead, so he picked him up and put him in the basket where he put his fish. On the way, the fox dropped fish one by one. When all the fish from the basket were empty, he jumped out of it and went away. Then he picked up all the fish and placed them in his home. He ate those fish daily, and he gained weight. When the last fish was left, a wolf saw it. "Hey, friend fox, how did you catch fish?" the wolf asked him, and he said, "The pond over there has a lot of fish. If you want to eat, let pharaoh ants bite your tail and dip it in the water." Therefore the wolf listened to what the fox said and placed his tail where many pharaoh ants lived. When the ants rooted his tail, he put it in the water. Fish ate all the pharaoh ants, so the wolf did not get any fish until it was dark. Then he went back. He said, "Friend fox, I did not get a fish even though I did the same thing you said." At that time, the fox stole and ate an old lady's porridge. He came back from stealing. The old lady threw the porridge to him, so all over his head was covered with porridge. He thought and returned, "I cannot eat all this today. I will lick it at home." On his way home, he met with the wolf and replied, "Hey friend, don't want to eat those fish. I ate those fish yesterday, and the fish went into my brain. So my brain comes out of my head. It is coming out all over my head, and it turns white now. I am going to die soon. So don't eat fish. Even though you catch fish, give them to me." The wolf believed what he said. The next day, the wolf went fishing in the pond. When he got fish, he found fish that were dead near the water. The wolf picked them up, although he didn't dare to eat fish. On the way, he remembered what the fox said and thought, "I am afraid of eating these fish. So I will throw them away." Then he threw them where the fox lived.
