Description:Translation (Seng Pan) The story I am going to tell you now is about the monkeys asking compensation from a man. Once upon a time, a man did shifting cultivation for living. A very old monkey always came and stole the crop from his field. So, he thought of a way to murder the old monkey. Soon, he made a trap and killed him. Many of the old monkey's fellows planned to come and ask for compensation from him. The man also did some preparations, like breaking big sticks and wooden chairs. He also called some sand-flies and he was waiting for the monkeys at home. When the monkeys arrived at his home, he let them sit first. After that, the man called the sand-flies and blew to the monkeys. Then the flies bit on their faces. So, they picked up the sticks that were broken by the man. And they struck at their faces with those sticks in order to kill the sand-flies. From that, it changed into hitting each other. They fixed date to come back. And they all went back. They also told him that they would come back again, On that day, the man kindled a big fire and burnt some big stones. When the monkeys came to him, he took a stone for each. As they sit on the stones, their bottoms were burnt. So, they run away again. And they also couldn't ask for compensation. From that time on, the monkeys' bottoms what the people call monkey's stool are still hairless since they sat on the man's hot stones.
