Description:Translation (Htoi San) This story is about Rattan Rum Gawng and Rattan Rum Shat Lu. A long time ago, this rattan species was growing and spreading all over the world. As the rattans were many, they wanted to increase more. So they planned, "We have to reproduce abundantly to grow new plants as bearing fruits. If we do not bear fruits, there will be no way to grow more. Let's bear fruits!" The other agreed, "Yes, of course!" "If we bear fruits, how do you like, sweet or sour? Sweet like very sweet or sour like too sour?" asked Rattan Rum Gawng. Rattan Rum Shat replied, "Friend Rum Gawng, sweet sweet sour sour. So all kinds of people like to eat, sweet sweet sour sour." And the other repeated, "Aww, when fruits come out and die?" "No, sweet sweet sour sour. Not too sweet and not too sour. I said sweet sweet sour sour." Rattan Rum Gawng said, "What did you say? When fruits come out, then die?" Rattan Rum Shat was very angry and replied, "Yeah! Yeah!" That's why Rum Gawng dies when the fruits come out until now. Rum Shat bears fruits and reproduces more so she can grow abundantly. Transcription (Lu Awng) Ngai ya hkai na maumwi gaw ndai ri rum gawng ngu ai hte rum shat lu yen a lam re.
