Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) I will tell about a stupid, foolish man. Once upon a time, there was a rich man. However, he was so lazy that he didn't want to work. He spent everything he had. In the end, he lost all of his money and became a beggar. He asked for food and money in every village. Then he arrived at the market in one village. He saw the men who were buying and selling horses. He heard their conversation about selling horses. Therefore, he asked one of the horse merchants, "My friend, how much is your horse?" Then the merchant laughed at him, saying, "How could a poor man like you buy my horse?" The poor man said, "I can't buy it. I mean, I want you to give it to me." The merchants laughed at him and said, "We just sell horses. How can we give it to you?" They lied to him, saying, "Do you know how we got this horse?" He said, "I don't know." They said, "We will let you know how. Go to the old lady at the corner of the market. She sells round white eggs. Buy two of those eggs. Later, the horses will hatch from them. But if you don't have money to buy those eggs, ask her to give them to you." The poor man went to the old lady and said, "Grandma, can you give me two eggs, please? After I sell them, I will pay you the cost." The old lady said, "If you don't have money, just take them for free." She gave him two duck eggs. He took those two eggs and went back home. The next day, one of his duck eggs disappeared. He thought, "The horse might hatch." He felt happy at the thought. However, another duck egg disappeared the following day. He still believed that a horse had hatched from the egg. He thought, "The horse had hatched and run away. Anyway, I will soon be able to sell these horses and make a profit." The next day, one of the villagers asked him, "My friend, did you eat your duck eggs?" The poor man said, "No, they are not duck eggs. They are horse eggs. The horses had hatched. I will soon sell them and make a profit." The villager said, "My friend, they are not horse eggs. They are just duck eggs. A dog ate your eggs!" The poor, foolish man was angry and killed that dog for eating his eggs. The owner of the dog heard the news. He said to the foolish man, "How stupid you are! You don't even know whether they are lying to you. That is the reason you become poor! Also, you are too lazy!" The foolish man regretted his actions. He thought with regret, "If I had worked hard, I would have been able to live prosperously and happily. From today, I will work hard." He lived his life working hard to become rich again.
