Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) The title of this story is 'a widow and her daughter'. Once upon a time, there were a widow and her daughter in a village. She sent her daughter to school. She always gave pocket money to her. But the daughter saved all money. When it was Mothers' Day, she asked his mother, "Mom, what do you want as a present?" The mother smiled and said, "Why?" The daughter answered, "I want to give you a present on Mothers' Day." The mother said, "You shouldn't ask someone what you want. You have to decide what will be right for that person and give it to him or her." She said, "Okay, I will think." And she went to the market. She bought presents for her friends. She didn't know what to buy for her mother. So, she was wandering at the market. At that time, a grandmother was crying and asking for help, "Save my child. My son is going to die! Help us." When the girl heard the grandmother's crying, she felt pity for her and thought carefully, "Should I just help the granny? Or shall I just buy a present for my mom with this money?" She couldn't decide. In the end, she thought, "Mothers' Day will come every year. I can give a gift to my mom next year. I can save a person's life with my money. I will just help them." She gave all her money to the grandmother and her sick son. The girl went back home with a sad face since she couldn't buy anything for her mother. When she got back home, her mom asked her, "What's wrong?" She said, "Mom, I gave all of my money which I have saved to the sick person. I intended to give you a present. But now, I can't." Her mother was pleased. She put a big smile on her face and looked at her daughter. Then, the daughter asked, "Why do you look so happy?" Then, the mother said, "Helping others is good, my sweetheart. You saved the other person's life. A person has only one life. If you lose it, you can never have it again. You can give a present to me every Mothers' Day. You did a really great job today." Transcription (Lu Awng) Ngai hkaina maumwi a gabaw gaw gaidan hte kasha a lam re.
