Description:		Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Once upon a time, there was a man and a tiger. One day, the man called the tiger, "My friend Tiger, let's go hunting in the forest." Then they went hunting together. They caught a deer. They tried to take the deer home. The man told the tiger, "Let me go cut a tree to carry this deer." He cut the trunk of a tree, which was filled with spikes. He cleaned all the spikes from the side he was going to carry, but left the spikes on the tiger's side. Before they carried the deer, the man told the tiger, "My friend, when you carry this deer, you must not say 'A Ka' if you get hurt by these spikes. If you say 'A Ka', the meat will be bitter. Don't also say 'A Kalu.' If you say 'A Kalu', the meat will be sour." Then they carried it together. As there were spikes on the tiger's side, it was hurt. So it said, "A Ka! A Ka!" Later, it said, "A Kalu! A Kalu!" Then the man said, "My friend Tiger, I already warn you not to say 'A Ka or A Kalu'. The meat will be sour and bitter." When they arrived home, the man thought of an idea because he didn't want to share the meat with the tiger. He made a hole under the bucket and said, "My friend Tiger, go fetch some water. We don't have enough water. We will need water to clean the meat and cook it. It looks like we won't have enough water. You go fetch some water." Since there was a big hole at the bottom of the bucket, it wouldn't fill up no matter how many times the tiger tried to fetch water. Later, the tiger saw that an egret flew through the hole. Then it checked it and found a hole at the bottom. However, it didn't think that its friend made a hole. It thought the egret made a hole with its sharp beak. Then it stuffed leaves into the hole and carried some water. The man cooked Malabar tamarind and the stems of Canadian moonseed. He cut them so they looked like meat and cooked them. And he was waiting for the tiger. When the tiger returned with the water, the man said to it, "You must be very tired. I have already cooked the meat. Come eat it. Eat it. I cook it very deliciously." The tiger thought it would be very tasty and ate it. It happened to eat the bitter stem. Then the tiger said, "My friend, why is it so bitter?" The man said, "I already told you, my friend. I warned you not to say 'A Ka'. But you said it. That's why the meat is bitter. But eat another one. Eat more." The tiger ate the Malabar tamarind this time. The tiger said, "My friend, this meat is so sour." The man said, "I told you not to say 'A Kalu.' The meat has gone sour because you said it." The man replied, "Okay." But he set fire to the haystack where the tiger was inside. The tiger was burned and tried to get out of it. Parts of its body were burned. That was the reason the tiger had stripes on its body.
