Description: | Translation (Htoi Awng) A long time ago, there was a conflagration in a village. The whole village was in danger. The villagers tried so hard to extinguish the fire. But they could not extinguish the fire. The fire spread in the forest too. Burrowing animals were running away to avoid fire. Birds were also running away from the forest. The fire spread in every mountain. At that time, a lion, a crow, and an owl discussed how to put out the fire. They discussed, "What should we do? The fire spreads in our land." Then, the crow said, "I will do it. I can extinguish the fire." The lion and the owl said, "That's great." The crow flew there to extinguish the fire. But he could not be able to put out the fire. Unluckily, his whole body was singed. SInce that day, the crow turned black. Then, the lion said, "I will go there. I can extinguish the fire." The lion tried hard, but it was just in vain. There were orange stripes on his whole body where the flames burnt him. Then, the owl said, "We can't put out the fire by water or sand. This conflagration is strange. Maybe, the deity did this. So, we should offer things to the deity and begged him to stop the fire." The owl gave offerings to the deity and begged. Then, the fire was put out by itself. The fire didn't spread anymore. The animals and people were safe. Transcription (Lu Awng) Moi kalang mi hta da ndai kahtawng langai kaw gaw ndai wan wa hkru wa ai da. Wanhkru wa re shaloi she mare ting jawm sat ai da.
