Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) In the past, there was a famous deity statue in a village. People often came there and offered what they owned. And they prayed to be successful in their business. Some people wished for their business, and some wished to gain much money and to have many animals. Many people became successful after they prayed there. Then, they came there again and offered money or other valuable things to the deity. They thought they succeeded because of the deity. But there was one man who never succeeded although he often prayed there. He tried many times to get success in his job, but nothing great ever happened to him. At last, he got angry at the deity. He blamed, "You are a biased deity. You blessed the others to be successful, but you didn't give your blessings upon me!" He was mad and thought to destroy the statue. Then, he took an axe and went there. When he arrived there, he said, "You are just a biased deity. You are not the real protector of humans!" Then, he struck the statue with the axe. Since it was made of wood, it was broken. There were a lot of treasures, which people offered, inside it. He took all the treasures and went back home. He became a wealthy man. In fact, the statue was just the art created by a sculptor. It was not a deity. So, we should not worship every statue we found.
