Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Once upon a time, there was an orphan child in a village. He was a highland farmer. He couldn't play with his friends because he had to work on the farm all day. There was a big tree in front of his farm. Whenever he was tired from working, he rested under it. One day, he felt tired after work. So he took a rest on the big tree in front of his farm. He found a nest there. He thought, "Something might be inside the nest. Will there be any eggs?" He climbed the tree and checked the nest. Then he found that there was an egg inside it. He took it home. He placed it on the rack above the fireplace. He didn't eat it. The next day, he went to work again. When he came back home in the evening, he checked the egg while thinking, "Shall I eat it or not? Oh, I won't eat it." The next day, he went to work again. Meanwhile, a beautiful girl came out of the egg. She cooked a meal for him. Also, she did the household chores. And she prepared a meal for him. Before the boy arrived home, she went into the egg again. When the boy arrived home, he saw the smoke from his house. He was shocked and thought, "Did a thief steal anything from my house? Who is in my house?" When he walked into the house, he found that there was a meal on the table. He was surprised, but he ate it. The next day, he went to work again. He thought, "Will there be another meal at home today?" When he came back home, he found that there was a meal for him. When it was already three times that he found the meal, he thought, "Something is suspicious. I should plan something to know who prepares the meal for me. I will pretend to go to work and catch that person." Then he went to the farm. He thought, "I will watch that person from here." He hid somewhere outside his house to catch that person. When it was in the evening, the girl came out of the egg and did chores. When he found out, he was puzzled, "I should hide this eggshell." He sneaked into the house through the window and hid the eggshell. And he made a sound 'ahem' and walked into the house. He pretended as if he had just come back from work. The girl couldn't find her eggshell to hide in. Then she hid behind the door. The boy asked her, "How and where did you come here?" She said, "I came out of the egg. I come here just to help you." The boy crashed the eggshell, and they lived happily ever after. Transcription (Lu Awng) Moi shawng de mare langai mi kaw da jahkai sha shi hkra sha nga ai da.
