Description: | Translation (Htoi San) Once upon a time, there were two idiot men in a village. One man wandered around the village, and another wanted to get fungus which other people talked about them. He was asking where to get those fungi, so people were mad at him. He questioned, "I like this kind of fungus. Where can I get them?" The first dumb man, who was also angry and was a bit smarter, said, "You need to delve your hands to get the feces of a buffalo when it passes the motion. It will come down." The second idiot did not have a brain and believed what the first man said. A buffalo was discharging feces in the water. The dumb man put it in his hand while it was evacuating the bowels. When he inserted his hand, the buffalo had finished passing motion. It puckered up its anus; thus, his hand could not pull back and got stuck there. As a result, the buffalo dragged him wherever it went, and he died as he was thrown around. After that, the buffalo rested in a wallow and discharged the feces again. Only then the dumb man's hand came out. He was covered with his blood and died. Another foolish man found him and said, "Oh my! You sleep deeply with happiness showing your smile. Are you laughing soundly?" Then he carried his friend. When he entered his village carrying his friend, people saw him and said, "Oh! You are carrying a dead man. When a body is smelly, it is dead." The idiot man thought himself dead as he heard people saying. Therefore he lay down on the road as he thought, "If you are smelly, you are dead. So I am dead." He thought, "I am smelly, so I die," so he flattened his body on the street. At that time, a group of elephant handlers was passing by. Mahouts tried to chase him away but did not get up and move. Thus elephant keepers were angry and hit him on his forehead with an elephant goad. Then he got up from his lying. After that, he wanted to get that elephant goad. He thought, "That thing can make dead people alive." The mahouts were irritated and answered, "Yes, it can make people alive." So he asked them, "If so, could you please give me that?" The elephant keepers gave the bullhook to him. After getting it, he carried it and wandered around. One day, a girl passed away in a hamlet. The family announced, "If anyone can make my daughter alive, we will give her to marry whoever makes her alive." He heard this news and went there. "I can get her life back." "I can make her alive," said the idiot man. He told the family, "I will make her alive," and he requested, "Make a room with partitions for me." "Make the fence off seven times." The family did what he said and put up the walls. Then he beat the girl's dead body with an elephant goad many times, but the girl did not get her life back. He did not come out and hit the girl for two or three days. The parents entered the room as their daughter did not come out and found the corpse scattered everywhere. The parents told him, "You are not supposed to do that. You should cry in the funeral home or in a noisy house." "You don't even cry, and you torture her like that is not good." Afterward, the people beat him and chased him out of the village. When he left that place, he went to another hamlet. After he reached the hamlet, he heard fighting. A husband and wife were fighting each other. So he cried beside the couple fighting. He wept with his wailing voice. The couple was shocked and asked, "Why are you weeping when other people are fighting? You are supposed to separate them. Why are you crying? People like you have no brain." Then the couple hit him back, and he ran for his life. He walked around and found two buffaloes knocked by their horns. He thought, "Alright. I was told to judge them as they are fighting like this." Thus, he talked to the two buffaloes, "You are big, and you are small." When he separated them, both buffaloes knocked him with their horns and killed him. That was because he was brainless and believed what people told him without reasonable interpretation.
