Description: | Translation (Htoi San) Once in a village, there was a woman with a child. But the child was not hers. The child was her husband's first wife's daughter. One day, she called the girl to go fishing. And she drowned her to death because she hated her. Then, the girl became a fish in that river. One day, an orphan boy went fishing in that river and caught a fish, which was the girl. He put it into the pot. And he worked at the farm as usual. While the boy was at the farm, the fish came out of the pot and turned into a girl. She cooked meals for him. When he came back, he saw delicious meals on the table. He wanted to know who cooked for him. So he pretended to go to the farm the next day and hid somewhere. When the girl came out, he quickly hugged her tight. Then, he got to know that she was the one who cooked meals for him. Later, they got married. Soon, her stepmother from her past life knew that she was that girl. So the stepmother ordered her servants to catch her. She tied her to the wood and burned her alive. Later, there grew a tree where the girl was burned to death. The tree was filled with many juicy fruits. Only the orphan boy could pick the fruit, not anyone else. He picked up all the fruits and gave them to the villagers. He took only one fruit and put it beside the wall. Surprisingly, his wife appeared again from that fruit. The fruit turned into his wife and helped him. Soon, the mean stepmother heard that news. She stole the fruit and threw it away. Many days later, the girl was born as a child of the old lady. The old mother told her, "Don't go anywhere, my baby. Just stay here. If your stepmother from your past life knows that you are reincarnated, she will catch you and kill you." One day, she was helping her mother dry fermented bamboo shoots. She helped her dry those shoots. She was wearing a wide hat made of bamboo. When the wind was blowing, the hat fell from her head. So she tried to pick it up. At that time, the mean stepmother's servants saw her. They reported to the stepmother, "Your stepdaughter is there." The stepmother's house had many floors, and she lived on the topmost floor. When she heard that news, she was angry and went down the stairs angrily. She wasn't aware of the stairs. She even skipped some steps. Unluckily, she fell down the stairs and died because of the accident. Later, the orphan boy, who was her husband in her past life, saw her and took her home with him. They lived happily together. Her mean stepmother died too. Because of jealousy and meanness, she wasn't aware of anything and fell down the stairs. It caused her death.
