Description:Translation (Htoi San) Once upon a time, there was a powerful king in a country. He got married when he was the right age to get married. His wife only gave birth to girls. So, he got married to another woman. However, the second wife also gave birth to girls. Then, the king got married to another woman because he wanted an heir. Luckily, the third wife gave birth to a boy. One day, the king went hunting while the third queen was pregnant. That night, the queen gave birth to a baby boy. But the first and second king's consorts hated her. So, they ordered an official to kill the baby when no one was aware. The official felt pity for the baby, so he didn't kill him. He just abandoned the baby somewhere in the forest. There lived an old couple near the place where the baby was abandoned. The couple saw the baby in a blanket. As soon as they saw the blanket, they knew the baby was one of the king's relatives. They thought, "This baby will do good for me one day." They raised the boy and taught him everything that the princes should know. His father taught him every skill such as hunting, arts and so on. He learnt those abilities from his father every night. He also learnt how to play the violin. When he grew up, he was skillful and brave. He had already learnt every skill. Then, he and his adoptive parents built a hut near the palace and lived there. He played the violin every night. He cut the trees during the daytime and played the violin at night. Then, a princess heard the sound of the violin. She loved listening to the sound, so she sneaked out of the palace and went to the boy's house. After some time passed, they fell in love. Then, the princess told him to get married. But the boy refused to get married. The adoptive father knew that the boy was the prince. He knew that they were not related. So, he gave them his permission to get married. The king wanted his daughter to get married to one of the princes from different countries. However, the princess refused to get married to another prince. She told the king, "I only want to marry the poor boy who is a woodcutter and plays the violin." The king got mad and said, "Where is he!?" He declared, "Who is that boy!? How dare he love the mighty princess? I will kill him." Then, the adoptive father took the blanket that wrapped the boy when he was abandoned and went to the king. He explained, "My king, he is your own son." The king investigated the case. He got to know that the boy was really his son. The official also confessed to the king everything he did in the past. The king called his first and second wives and drove them away from the palace. The king escorted the third wife who was the birth mother of the prince. And he arranged the wedding for the prince and the princess. The king gave his throne to the prince. Then, the prince who was adopted by the old couple became the king and ruled the country fair. He looked after his adoptive parents and paid his gratitude. The new king ruled the country with justice and lived happily.
