Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) There was once a young man in a village. His friends went to a festival, so he wanted to go there with them too. There was a deep forest between his village and the village where the festival was held. It was scary to walk past the forest alone. If someone walked past through the forest alone, he would get killed by wild animals or Nat spirits. Then, he went there with his friends. At the festival, he helped the host a lot. There, he met a gorgeous girl and fell for her. But he was too busy and didn't have a chance to talk to her. After the festival, he went back to his village. When he was at home, he couldn't help thinking about her. He missed her so much and decided to go to that village again. He told the villagers, "I met a gorgeous lady at the festival. I want to find her again. So, I'll go there." They advised him not to go there. But he went there although they stopped him. On his way into the dense forest, an evil spirit saw him and tried to eat him. He said, "Don't eat me, please. I have met a girl whom I love so much. If I could find her, I'll give you my head on my way back to the village. So, don't eat me, please." Then, the evil spirit released him. He continued his way to the girl's village. When he reached the village, he met that girl and told her that he fell in love with her. He asked the girl's parents for permission to marry her. He told the girl's parents, "I want to marry your precious and lovable daughter. Can you give your permission, please?" They had heard about him and knew that he was a hardworking man. So, they agreed to let their daughter marry him. Then, the girl's brother said, "I will escort my sister to your village, my brother-in-law." He said, "Yes, you can." Three of them set forth their journey back to the man's village. When they walked past in the forest, where he made a promise to give to his head, he told them, "I will go over there. Wait for me here." Then, he went to the evil spirit and gave his head. At that moment, the two siblings were waiting for him so long, but he didn't show up. The brother said to his sister, "My brother-in-law didn't come back yet. I will find him. Wait for a moment here." He followed him. Somewhere in the forest, he saw his brother-in-law's dead body. He saw that his head was separated from his body. He was upset and thought, "Such a smart and hardworking man is dead in this way. I will kill myself too." Then, he beheaded his head and died on the spot. On the other hand, the girl was waiting for her husband-to-be and her brother for so long. But they didn't come back. So, she was searching for them. Then, she saw their dead bodies lying on the ground. She was shocked and sorrowful. She said to herself, "My beloved brother is dead, and my fiancé is dead too. I will kill myself and just die here." At that time, the evil spirit thought, "Oh, it will be my deadly and the biggest sin ever if three people die in this forest because of me. GOD will punish me." Then, it said, "Hey, a beautiful lady! What are you trying to do!?" She replied, "The valuable son of my parents, my brother is dead. And my fiance is dead too. So, I'm going to kill myself." The evil spirit asked her, "Then, what do you want?" She desperately said, "I wish my brother and my fiancé were still alive." It said, "Then, quickly connect their bodies and heads." She was very happy and quickly did it. She was in such a rush, so she mistakenly connected her brother's head and her fiance's body. And she connected her brother's body and her fiancé's head. Then, the evil spirit brought them back to life. She was surprised and didn't know whom to marry. She felt confused. When she thought to marry her fiancé, he had her brother's head, and the body was his. When she thought to marry her brother, he had her fiancé's head. It was difficult for her to choose. So, she didn't choose anyone. They just went to the man's village. Since they loved each other, they could escape from the evil spirit and live again. This is the end of the story.
