Description: | Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Once upon a time, there was a couple who loved each other so much in a village. The man knew lots of knowledge and had many skills. There was nothing he didn't know how to do. But he didn't focus on doing only one work. He tried doing only one work. But before he could finish doing it, he wasn't satisfied and changed to another job. He was always like that. His wife was depressed and sick of him since they didn't have anything to eat. But he was still changing work so frequently. And he had never earned any money with the skills he was good at. So, the wife felt really depressed. She said to him, "You have never earned enough money for us to eat. We are very poor. There is no day which you take a lot of money home. Maybe we should go to ask a fortune-teller if we are destined or not." They decided to consult with the fortune-teller. The fortune-teller asked the man, "What do you do for a living?" He said, "I have lots of skills. I work as a carpenter, a pharmacist and a merchant too. But I didn't earn enough money for us." The wife said, "That's why I got angry at him. He couldn't even earn enough money for us." The fortune-teller understood it well and said to the man, "Climb that tree." There were many branches on that tree, but the main trunk was really high. He ordered him to climb the highest branch on the tree. The man climbed the tree and asked, "Is it okay now? Can I stop?" The fortune-teller said, "No, keep climbing." Then, the man climbed up a little bit more and asked again, "Is it okay now?" The fortune teller said, "No, keep going." When the husband reache the top, the fortune-teller said, "Hold tight." And he called many villagers and shook the tree strongly. The husband was scared to fall from the tree and held it tight. He was getting tired. He shouted, "Stop shaking! Stop, please. My hands are really hurt. Let me climb down." Then, the fortune-teller said, "Okay, climb down then." When the husband was on the ground, he asked, "On how many branches did you hold?" The man answered, "Only one. I was so scared to change the branch since you were shaking the tree hard. I was afraid to fall from the tree." Then, the fortune-teller said, "Yes. If you do the work without finishing it, you can't get money. Just focus on doing only one work. Then, you can get a lot of money and will be happy in your marriage." The husband said, "I understand now. Although I have lots of skills, I can't earn money if I don't focus on doing only one work. Since today, I will try hard." He regretted it and went back home with his wife. Then, he changed the way he worked, and they lived happily together.
