Description: | Translation (Htoi San) Here is a story about a guard who watched over a king's treasure. A long time ago, a king had a male guard for his wealth and whom he could trust. That man died due to his severe illness one day. Therefore the king thought, "Oh my! Whatever it is, I may need to find another guard for my treasure." Then he commanded his servants. His servants announced the news in villages. When they declared, a poor mother and son heard them. The son told his mother, "Mom, I want to work as a guard for the king's wealth." His mother did not agree to let him work as a guard even though he told her twice. On the third time, "Okay, see how. Whatever you do, you work with honesty and faithfulness." she ordered her son. After that, the son left home. He found that gold and silver spread in the palace when he arrived at the king's palace. The maids said to whoever came into the palace, "Today, we are going to choose a guard for our king's treasures. You can pick up anyone you like from here." Due to this announcement, some chose gold, and some took silver and entered. The poor boy thought, "Unless the king says to take, I should not take this." Therefore he did not take anything and went into the palace. When he reached the palace, the king arrived. When the king reached the place for the guard election, he had an idea, "If someone steals this treasure, it will be revealed once I ask them to sprawl." "Alright. Now the election is going to start. Everyone listens to the music playing now and dances," commanded the king. The music was kind of jumpy, so competitors needed to jump for their dancing. Gold and the things they concealed were dropped as they needed to jump. Some of them picked them up and continued dancing. The poor boy did not take anything and danced. Therefore, nothing was dropped from him. "Okay. Everyone! Go back to your place and sit." After all, sitting in their place, the king continued his talking, "You have to put the things which you took before back to their place. You got them without my order, and I did not say you could take them so put them back in their original place." "After you place them back, you may go back home." "The poor boy who is sitting at the last place, you stay behind." Thus, all the other people looked at him voraciously and went back. When everyone left, the king said to him, "Move here." When the poor boy moved nearer, the king ordered his servants, praised the boy, and gave him his treasure guard position.
