Description: | Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Once upon a time, there were two thieves. They went to the shed to steal cows and buffaloes. One night, a tiger crept around that shed to eat the cows and buffaloes. The two thieves had poor eyesight, so they didn't know that they touched the tiger instead of the cows. One thief touched the tiger's neck and said, "Oh, this cow is really big." Then, he tied it with the strap. One thief pulled the tiger, and the other pushed it from the back. The tiger was also a thief. And all the thieves met that night. When it was getting bright, the thief who pushed it from the back saw the yellow stripes. So, he was afraid and ran into the forest. When the one who pulled it looked back, he saw the yellow stripes instead of his friend. He thought, "It's going to be morning soon. It might bite me when it sees me clearly." So, he tied the tiger to a tree. And he sat on the tree. He had no idea where his friend went. When it was getting light, a pack of wolves walked past the tiger. Then, the tiger told one of the wolves, "Human tied me here. Save me, please." But the wolf said, "You didn't even share meat with us whenever you got some meat to eat. Just die there! We won't save you!" They left it without help. When it saw a bear, it asked for help. It said, "A person has tied me here. Save me." The bear asked it, "Who tie you there?" The tiger pointed at the man and said, "Over there! He is sitting on the tree." The man was frightened and didn't know what to do. So, he put a blanket on the bear's neck and kicked it. When the bear fell from the tree, the tiger was so afraid and pulled the rope hard. Then it was cut off. The bear couldn't take the blanket off his neck. Since then, the bear has had thick and untidied fur. Transcription (La Ring) Ya ndai tsap mun sumwum mat wa ai lam gaw moi she lagut la lahkawng wa she manang ni a nga wulawng de nga lagu sa ai da.
