Description: | Translation (Htoi Awng) This story is about that we need to respect the elders. A long time ago, there was an old grandfather in a village. He lived in a shanty outside the village. He could not be able to do anything since he was too old. But there wasn't anyone who would care for him. Rich people in that village didn't show mercy and respect to the needy elders. For that reason, the villagers were getting sick and poorer day after day. The children also stopped growing and died when they were at a young age. Things kept happening like that for two to three years. One day, an older man from their neighbour village visited them. The headman said to him, "Our children stop growing and die at a young age. This thing is happening in our village for almost three years. Our villagers are getting sick frequently and face many problems. The children are not growing up well, and their health is not good at all." When the headman said that, the old man said, "Adults and respected gentlemen from your village should take care and show respect to the senior elders who are really old. Try to get loads of blessings from them. Then, this village will develop, and the villagers will be in good health." Then, the villagers remembered the old man who lived in the hut. They prepared to go to him and give him the new dresses and money. They were willing to treat the old man well and wanted to ask for blessings too. The villagers respectfully requested, "Dear old man, we want to show our respect to you, so we came here. And give us the blessings to be healthy, please." When they asked where they could pray and kill the buffaloes, the old man said they could do beside his shanty. Then, the villagers went outside and prepared to cook delicious meals. They treated the good food to the old man. They also presented beautiful new clothes and money to him. And then they requested the blessings for them from the old man. The old man blessed upon them, "Since today, the villagers will develop and be wealthy and healthy. There won't be any sickness or epidemic in this village. You will not face difficulties anymore." After the old man gave blessings, the villagers were significantly in good health. The old man also disappeared, and no one saw him anymore.
