Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) The story I am going to tell is about a tiger and a rabbit. Once upon a time, there were a rabbit and a tiger in a village. They were so close. They were close friends. One day, they made a promise to help each other when they built a house. They agreed to help each other since a house couldn't be built by oneself. Then they started building the house. They were going to collect thatch first. They went to the tiger's farm to collect thatch. The rabbit was collecting the thatch in the tiger's farm. The tiger treated him to delicious food. The rabbit was treated nicely. Later, they two collected the thatch in the rabbit's farm. They went to the rabbit's farm to collect the thatch the next day. At that time, the rabbit said, "My friend, continue working. I will go back to cook a meal for you." The rabbit needed to prepare food for the tiger because the tiger helped him in collecting the thatch. Then the tiger replied, "Alright, alright. You go and cook. I will collect them." When the rabbit helped the tiger, he was treated to a tasty meal. So, he thought to cook delicious food for the tiger. Then he killed the baby tiger. And he fed that tiger flesh to his friend. When he fed that meat to the tiger, the tiger told him, "My friend, your meal is so delicious." But the tiger didn't know that it was his son. After having his meal, he went back home. When he got home, he called his son. But his son was not there. The tiger was so surprised. But he didn't say a word to the rabbit. He knew that it was the rabbit which killed his son and treated his son flesh to him. But he kept silence. The tiger and the rabbit said to each other, "We have collected the thatch. Now, let's build a house." Then, they built a tiger's house first. They decided to build the tiger's house first. Then they finished building a house. The next day, they built the rabbit's house. While they were building the house for the rabbit, the tiger said, "My friend, look what we have done! Is it fully covered or not yet?" The tiger planned to trick the rabbit. He tried to deceive the rabbit. The tiger kept thinking about how to deceive the rabbit. He carried out his plan. Then the tiger told the rabbit, "You go inside to see our house is fully covered or not?" After they roofed the thatch, the tiger told the rabbit to go inside the house. Then the rabbit went inside and checked. And he said, "Not yet! A bit more to do." The tiger said to the rabbit, "Then, you go inside and check again if the rain can leak or not." And he peed on the roof. Then the rabbit said, "No, it's not fully covered yet." "We need to build a safe and strong house," said the tiger. The rabbit did the house strong and closed. After he had done like that, the tiger killed him right away. The rabbit wasn't aware of the strength of the tiger. The tiger was much bigger than him, but he provoked the tiger first. Then he faced death at last. Transcription (Lu Hkawng) Ya ngai hkai na maumwi gaw Brangtai hte Sharaw a lam rai nga ai.
