Description: | Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Once upon a time, there was a boy in a village. He lived alone. There was a market that was far away from his village. The villagers needed to pass a forest when they went to the market. One day, he had run out of salt. So, he thought of going to the market to buy some salt. When he was in the forest, he was exhausted. He was mumbling, "I am thirsty and tired. I will take a rest here for a while." Then, he went to the stream and drank some water. And he leaned against the tree. At that time, he heard a sharp sound. It was like someone was injured and groaning. He was searching where the groaning came from. He saw an injured lion somewhere in the forest. The spear was stabbed, and the bones were broken. The lions usually attacked humans and small animals. The boy was shocked and scared. But he remembered someone telling him before, "The lions usually attack people, but we can say nice words to them. Then, their mind could be changed." Then, he said nicely, "The lion, don't harm me. I won't give any harm to you too. I just want to remove that spear stabbing on your body and cure you." He removed that spear from the lion's body. He found some herbs nearby and ground those herbs. And he poured the liquid onto the wound. And then, he applied the herbs to the wound. After that, he continued his way to the market. After buying some salt, he went back home. On his way home, he met a gang. The gangsters caught him. They took him to their secret place. They put him in a cage. The gangster master was happy to see him in a cage. There were two cages: the boy was in a cage, and the lion was in the other cage. Both of them were in a place like a stadium. There was a nice and amazing place for the gangster master. And there were many seats for the audience too. Then, it was time for the boy to fight with the lion. The master and the audience were waiting for the match. They thought, "This boy will be dead soon. How is the lion going to kill him? He will be in great pain." Then, they opened the cage's gate where the lion was inside. They opened the boy's cage too. He was scared to death and prayed to GOD. "GOD, save me from this dangerous situation. Save me," he prayed. Meanwhile, the audience was so loud. The lion walked out of the cage. The boy was frightened and prayed, "I have to fight with the lion. What should I do to be alive?" Surprisingly, the lion didn't attack him. It walked toward him and kneeled in front of him. It touched his legs and feet. Both the master and his wife were surprised. They thought, "What's happening today!? The lion is not acting as the same before. What kind of power does this boy hold?" The lion didn't attack the boy at all. The lion kept touching the boy's legs and stayed peacefully. The master wanted to know about the boy so much and thought, "How is this possible? What kind of power does the boy have?" Then, he ordered his servants, "Go and bring the boy to me!" The servants took the boy in front of the master. The master asked the boy, "Hey, what kind of person are you? In the past, the lion used to attack people. But today, it didn't attack you at all! It even touched you and obeyed you. What power do you have?" He answered politely, "I don't have any power. That is the lion that I saved when I went to buy some salt. It was injured badly at that time. I saved it. It remembered me. So, it is repaying its gratitude. It shows its gratitude, so it doesn't attack me." He continued, "I would like to give one piece of advice to you, master. You have many servants who follow and obey you. But you torture them. Then, you don't get the love of your servants. They do not love you. If you want the respect and love of your servants, learn from today's event. The animal only knows how to attack. But it remembered me because I saved it and treated it well. So, it showed its gratitude. Never torture your followers. Try to treat them well. If not, you won't get their love and respect." The master regretted his action toward his people. Since that day, the master had changed his behaviour. He became a good leader. Transcription (La Ring) Kalang mi da mare kahtawng langai mi kaw e ndai la kasha langai mi nga ai.
