Description: | Translation (Seng Pan) A long time ago, there were a boy and a girl. They were so in love. The girl said, "Now you love me so much. But I think your love will fade away as time flies." "No. I will surely love you," the boy replied. "Will you love me even when I become old?" the girl asked. "Yes, I will," the boy answered. Again, the girl questioned, "What if I don't give birth to a child?" "Yeah, I will still love you," the boy answered. "What if I am not as beautiful as now?" the girl asked. "Of course! My love to you will never change," the boy replied. Then the girl told him to ask for the hand from her parents even though she knew that the boy was not patient. When the boy came and asked for the hand from the girl's parents, they didn't agree since the boy was so lazy. So, the boy called his girlfriend, and they sneaked away from home. They roamed around the forest and fields. They also packed enough food for that day. They brought all the food they wanted to have and walked away. Both were so happy. On the way, they danced. When they got tired, they chatted. And when they were hungry, they ate the food they packed from home. After a few days, their food was going to run out. They brought a knife from home. One day, they didn't have anything to have. First, both were insisting on hunger. One day, the boy got angry since he was starving. Then, the girl asked, "Now we are so hungry. What should we do?" The boy replied, "I will go and cut small bamboos. You wait here." He took back the bamboos. He cut up to steam the rice. However, no rice was left. "We don't have rice anymore. What should we do?" the girl said. "Yeah. That's it," the boy replied. They were hungry extremely, but they forbore it. But they didn't have many conversations like before. Before, they talked and laughed a lot. Either the girl or the boy didn't start talking. At that time, both heard the sound of birds, "Gawng tawk! Gawng tawk!". "Honey, what kind of birds are they? The sound is so nice," the girl asked. "Maybe Tawk Tawk birds!" the boy replied impatiently. The girl noticed that her boyfriend was angry as he was starving. So, she prepared the food which she brought without letting him knew. And they ate together. After that, each went back to their houses. "Even though you love me so much, we have to work hard for a living. Therefore, we have to do works. We also should listen to our parents. If you work hard, my parents will allow me to marry you. From now on, don't be lazy. I will be waiting for you to come and ask my hand from my parents again," the girl said. Starting from that day, the boy worked hard and became an energetic man. Later, the girl's parents also allowed him to marry their daughter, and he could build a happy family.
