Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) This is about something related to our food. I would like to tell you why we shouldn't eat cassava and sweets together and what will happen if we eat them together. A long time ago, there was a field where many different kinds of trees and plants were growing. Then, the farmer from the field grew many cassava plants there. The cassava plants grew fast. Its roots were growing bigger each year. Its roots became as big as an elephant after three or four years of planting. It became bigger after three or four years. Around two or three pieces of cassava were too much for a family of three or four to eat. Only one root was enough to feed the whole village. If we steamed two roots, people from the whole country could eat them till they were full. The villagers were greedy and ate whatever. They didn't have any limit on eating. Those cassava plants could speak too. They didn't like sweets at all. We can't eat cassava and sweets together. Any health problems could happen when we eat cassava. In the past, an old man ate cassava. He tasted the cassava was bland. He ate a big piece that was as big as the elephant's leg. After eating cassava, he lay down on the floor. At that moment, a group of ants passed near him. He saw the group of ants carrying food. The ants were carrying jaggery. The old man didn't know that jaggery and cassava shouldn't be eaten together. He saw the ants were carrying jaggery. He killed the ants one after one. And he collected all the jaggery. In the past, the jaggery was just powder. The jaggery was ground. We couldn't even hold the jaggery because it was so smooth. The old man collected all the jaggery that the ants carried. And he combined it and made it solid. He ate it. Then, he suffered from food poisoning and threw it up again and again. Unfortunately, he was dead. We shouldn't eat that two food together. Since then, they had learnt that the cassava and jaggery or sweet shouldn't be eaten together. We have the lists of which foods shouldn't be eaten together. If you eat this leaf and that leaf together, you can suffer from food poisoning. You can suffer dizziness, sickness or diarrhoea too. The villagers learnt that the cassava and jaggery shouldn't be eaten together. When we make pickles, we shouldn't wear gold rings. When we make pickles, we can't touch the vegetables with our hands while wearing gold rings. Then, the pickles will not be tasty. I would like to tell you about those.
