Description: | Translation (Rita Seng Mai) This is about a wildcat and an eagle. One day, the wildcat called the eagle, "My friend, let's go to collect wood for winter. It is too cold in winter." The eagle always sat on a flat stone, which was hot enough during the daytime. Since the stone on which she used to rest was in the spotlight of the sun, it was warm enough for her. She thought she would be warm anytime she sat on it. So she never went to collect wood whenever the wildcat called her to do so. She proudly said, "I have a warm stone to rest on." She had total trust in the sun and that stone, so she didn't collect any wood. During the winter, she couldn't warm herself at a fire while others were warming themselves. The stone she always sat on was getting cooler as the night was getting darker. The stone was even cooler when it was in the morning. Her friends were sitting around the fireplace and warming themselves. She couldn't say that she would like to sit there because she was embarrassed. She didn't collect wood when her friends called her. Her friends were teasing her: "You said you had a warm stone. Go and use that stone." Then she was embarrassed and could not say that she would like to sit near the fire. She felt too cold and had her teeth chattering. Since then, she produced a sound like 'dagri, dagri' because she was shivering. Eagles produce sounds like 'nya, nya'. However, she couldn't bear the cold and had her teeth chattering. She was named 'dagri' eagle then. Transcription (Lu Awng) Ya tsun na lam gaw ndai hkan hte u dagri a lam re.
