Description: | Translation (Htoi San) The story is about a child who had only a head. Once upon a time, in a village, a husband and a wife married for a long time, but they did not have a baby. They did not get a baby until they were getting older. One day, they heard they could get a baby if they prayed at a tree. Therefore, they went and prayed there and then got a baby. When they delivered the baby, the child did not have a body but only a head. However, the family got more prosperous and had better welfare since they had their baby, as the baby gave them many benefits. One day, the child who had only the head said, "Let's go herding cows." When the parents heard this, they replied, "My child, you don't have your body, and you are just the head." "Don't go herding cows." The boy responded, "Mother. Father. It's not. I will go herding. I can do it." His parents could not resist him and put him on the head of a cow with his rice packet. They let him go for herding cows. The head boy entered the forest and herded their cows to help his parents. Since his parents got him, they became wealthier and more prosperous. The whole town could see their family's increase, and they all were amazed. The child became older, and he was a young boy. The boy told his parents, "Mom, I am now turning the age of getting married. I want to get a wife." He wanted to get married to a girl called 'Kaw Tawng' from their village. The boy requested, "Go and ask for Kaw Tawng! Please ask for Kaw Tawng!" His parents said to him, "My child, you have only the head. She might not want to marry you." Nevertheless, the boy insisted, "No, no. Mom and Dad, please ask for her." Finally, his parents could not deny him and went to Kaw Tawng's parents. When they went to Kaw Tawng's parents, the girl site gave their daughter as the boy's family was wealthy and had good welfare. After Kaw Tawng and the boy married, he told Kaw Tawng, "I don't have a body now, but you don't worry about it. There will be a Manau festival in our village after our wedding." "When we dance at the Manau festival, my body, legs, and all other parts will grow. We will become a beautiful and happy marriage." Soon after the boy told about this, the village celebrated the big Manau festival. The newlywed couple went dancing Manau, and the boy got his body, hands, and legs as he had only a head before. He transformed into a handsome boy, so Kaw Tawng was also very happy about it, and they stayed joyfully together. One day, a frog's body lay on the couple's bed. Kaw Tawng found the frog's body on their bed. She said, "Oh my! This frog's skin. This frog's body made and tortured my husband not to have his body. He is such a good-looking husband." "This frog's structure destroys my husband's body. That is it." She took it straight away and put it into the fireplace. She threw the frog's body into the fire then her husband screamed, "It's scorching. Very hot!" Her husband's body disappeared at once. The body was faded, "Very painful! Very hot! It's very painful! It's so hot!" Then Kaw Tawng realized, "Oh dear! The one that I threw into the fire was my husband's body." Although she tried to take it out from burning, the husband's body was gone. As the body disappeared, his head also vanished. The husband went to the Sun kingdom. Kaw Tawng was so miserable and sorrowful that she could not meet her husband, and her husband also could not reach her for her whole life. She did not know how her husband got his body and limbs. She said, "This is because of the frog." As she threw the frog, her husband went back to the Sun kingdom as he came from here, which she did not know. The boy went up to the Sun kingdom, and they separated each other forever. So Kaw Tawng cried and wept day and night, and she passed away due to longing for her husband. She died near a lake. The lake still exists now. People said she lived in that lake, and people dropped themselves there and died every year on the day Kaw Tawng died. The older people told this story.
