Description: | Translation (Htoi San) I am telling a story about a bad father. Long ago, there was a child. His mother passed away when he was young, so he had to stay with his father. The child was at the age to remember things when his mother died. Since then, he lived with his father, who slept the whole day and did not take care of him and did not pity him. The father had no value and did not do anything. He made his child a servant, and the boy needed to cook for his father. The child worked at other people's jobs and cooked for his father. His father just slept the entire day. The people from his town took pity on him, so they fed him many times. The father just let him work, and he slept, ate, and did not do anything but waste his life. At first, the child thought, "Aw, he might be sad because my mom passed away." Thus he just let his father be whatever he liked. The child was so mature, and when he was older, he understood his father bullied him. Even though the villagers fed him, he had to take care of his father. The villagers did not dare to give him food, although they had compassion for him day by day. The child was only seven to eight years old, and his father was bad-minded. Unlike his age, the child needed to work all day, and he had to work for his father while the other children of his era played happily. The child was busy working all day and all night, and he prepared food for his father as well as needed to work to get income. He arranged for his father's meals. He had to cook for his father after he came back from work. When he finished cooking, he woke his father up from sleeping. His father sometimes scolded him angrily, "I don't have enough sleep." His father beat him when the food was not ready during eating time. The child cooked all the rice and curry and gave it to his father. The father closed the door and consumed it in his room. After eating, he opened his door and passed his leftovers to the child, "Clear these." The child had to scratch the rice from the bottom, which was not enough for him. The father had no mercy and did not love his child even though the boy was underprivileged. The father persecuted his child as if the child was not his own. He was an amoral father. Although his father was evil to him, the child was full of love for his father. He said, "He is my father, even though he is good or bad." Then he took care of his father although he was young. He accepted his father, "Even if my father beats me or whatever he does to me, he is my father." "He might be sorrowful due to my mother's death," the boy thought for his father, but that old man did not change. One day, the boy was amazed that his father did not wake up after he had prepared everything well. His father did not get up the whole day. When he awoke his father after preparing food, his father moved a bit. However, his father did not move even slightly on that day. So the child thought. "If I wake him up, he might get angry if he does not sleep enough." Then he did not wake his father and watched him move. He waited at the father's doorway to feed, but his father did not even move and was so quiet. While he watched his father, a cat was walking over his father's head. He was worried his father might wake up because of the cat. "The cat is walking again. If I beat it, my father might get angry at me." So he took the cat out quietly. When the child took the cat from his father's head and looked at him, the father's eyes were hollowed out, and there were no eyeballs in his eye sockets. The child was shocked, "Oh my! My father's eyeballs are not sleeping. They are taken out." He cried out and shouted so all the village people ran to him. The people saw his father's eyeballs were hollowed out as the cat ate them. They said to the boy, "Don't cry! Don't cry! Your father tortured you, so he died today." "Although he was your father, he did not have a human mind and had an animal mind. He tortured his own child like you; furthermore, he was so evil to you." "The cat plucked out his good eyes and ate them. So you don't feel sad. Your father deserved to be like this due to his bad manners. Thus you don't feel sorrow." "This kind of father deserves to die like this. His eyes deserve to hollow out like this," said the people from his town. However, the child said to the people, "Even though what kind of my father was, please help me to bury him." The people told him, "This kind of bad behavior person should not bury well." "Your father didn't deserve to be buried nicely. He was thrown out like pigs and dogs." "He persecuted you that much and did the same thing to your mother until she died. You didn't know that because you were very young. Your father tortured your mother to death." But the boy insisted, "Whatever he was, please help me to bury him well." The people from his village did not want to bury his father because of what he did to his child. Due to the child's request humbly and his mature mind, the people buried the father completely. They actually did not desire to do interment. They threw out those malignant people like dogs and pigs in their lives. Due to the child, the villagers buried the father despite how wicked he was. Our ancestors told this story.
