Description: | Translation (Rita Seng Mai) I will tell you another story. There was a god in the upper land. He came down to earth and held a meeting. There were two types of people on earth: married and single. Then, he called married people to attend the meeting. Singles couldn't attend the meeting. All married men went to attend it. There were lots of men in the meeting. Then, he asked them, "Did you all get married? Raise your hand if you are married." The men raised their hands. He asked them, "Raise your hand if you are single." Then no one raised their hand. He said, "Since you are all married, you listen to your wives. If you listen to your wives, raise your hands." Everyone raised their hands. But one man didn't raise his hand. God asked him, "You don't listen to your wife?" He said, "Yes, I don't listen to my wife's words." God told him, "Come here." He said, "There are two horses: the red one and the white one. Which one do you want?" He answered, "I want the white one." God gave him the white horse. He gave him other valuable things too. He said to him, "Take this horse and go back home." And he continued, "The other men can go back home now. You won't get anything. He is the one who doesn't listen to his wife, so he gets these gifts." The man got the silver bag, a sword, a coat and other valuable things. His wife was weaving the cloth under the tree. He asked his wife, "Do I look handsome?" She said, "You look handsome, but you will be more handsome if your horse is red. Go change the horse." The man said, "I can change it." She said, "Change it then. The red one will be more beautiful." The man went back to god to change the horse. God asked him, "Why are you here again?" He said, "My wife told me that I don't look good with this white horse. She said the red horse would be good. So I am here to change the horse." God told him, "You told me that you didn't listen to your wife. But now you come here to change the horse because of what your wife said. All men listen to their wives. So I will take everything I gave you. Go back home!" He continued, "Men on the earth listen to their wives. I will give you these seven peas. Grow these peas." The sprouts went up only from the left side. The men were called the creatures who listened to their wives. At first, the man said that he didn't listen to his wife, so he got much stuff. But when his wife told him that the white horse was not beautiful, he came back and thought to change it to the red one. Then, every man listened to his wife. That man got seven peas. The sprouts grew up only from the left side. This is the end of the story. Thank you very much. Transcription (La Ring) Ya bai maumwi langai mi hkai na.
