Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) I would like to tell that there is a proverb 'be right after the word'. In that proverb, there is God's word too. According to John 1:1, the action will happen exactly after you have said those words. In Kachin, those kinds of actions really happened. People from the place called 'Kyin-ra' ,where I live, may know about this. In the past, English built a road from Sumpra Bum to Putao through Hka Mum Bum (mountain). The road is still used now. There is an old road which English had built. They built it through hills and mountains. There is a stream called 'Hpung Ing' in the up area of Sumpra Bum. 'Hpung Ing' stream flows under the base of 'Hka Mum Bum'. There is a village at the base of 'Hka Mum Bum'. And there is a pond too. That is the village where many girls from 'Marip Lamawn' clan lived. One day, one woman put her baby on a slab while she was washing her hair. After she had washed her hair and when she looked at her baby, the baby was gone. Only the baby carrier was on the slab. The baby was eaten by a dragon which lived under the slab. The mother was weeping sadly. "Please kill the dragon which ate my baby! Split that slab into pieces too! The dragon ate my baby. If you split the slab into pieces and kill the dragon, I will offer you a buffalo," shouted the mother. Then, the thunder struck at the pond where the dragon lived. The dragon was trying so hard to avoid the strikes. It went under the slab beside the mountain. Then, the god of thunder pulled the dragon out from there and put it on the slab. As Kachin people worshipped nat spirits in the past, she had to give offerings to that nat since she gave her words. That is true event, and the slab is still there. That's why if someone sadly and angrily calls upon a deity or god, Mighty God could hear him or her. And guardians nats who take care of a family or a clan could hear one's voice too. When someone really means it and says the words, then the action really happens. So, we shouldn't say a word irresponsibly although we are in the situation of getting angry. The good thing can happen only when we say good words. (I will tell two stories relating with 'word'.)
