Description: | Translation (Rita Seng Mai) This is the story of an orphan boy who cut trees for his living. There were an orphan boy and his grandma in a village. They cut wood and sell them for their living. One day, he saw that one man was sharpening the knife while he was going out to cut trees. Then he thought, "Ahh, I have seen that kind of whetstone. I use that kind of whetstone to sharpen my axe which I use for cutting trees." When he cut the trees before, he accidentally touched on many jade stones. He didn't know that was jade. Then he took one stone and used it as a whetstone in his house. Then, one of the families from the village asked the boy to come and cut wood for them. The man from the family told him, "Can you cut wood for us today? Gather firewood for us." He replied, "Okay, I will. Let me go to sharpen my axe first. After that, I will cut wood for you." Then he went back home to sharpen it. When the man who asked him to cut wood came to him, he saw that the boy was using jade as a whetstone. The man asked him, "Where did you get that kind of stone?" Then he said, "Grandpa, there are lots in the place where I cut wood." The man asked the boy, "Then take me to the place where you cut wood." When they arrived there, they saw that there were many jades. Then the man told him, "My grandson, you don't need to cut trees and sell them anymore. These are jades, and they are expensive ones. You don't know they are valuable. You don't need to suffer anymore. Let's sell these jades and make money! But don't tell any other people. Let's say I follow you to cut wood. Okay?" Then the boy said ok. He usually took the old man to that place where there were many jades. But the old man was greedy and thought to deceive the boy. Then he collected many men and went there to get all the jades. But he didn't see any jades when he arrived at the place, where he usually saw many jades when he went together with the boy. The old man thought to himself, "I'm sure this is the place where there are many jades. Trees which the orphan boy cut are still here." Then he told his friends, "Hey, I'm very sure this is the place where we see many jades. But now, we can't see anything. Those are the blessings from GOD to the orphan boy. Our mighty GOD doesn't allow us to take those. God gives those jades to the boy. God makes us not be able to see jades since we thought to deceive the boy. Let's just go back home!" Then they all went back home. Since that day, the orphan boy and his grandmother sold those jades and became rich. He got married to a good lady too. Finally, they all lived happily forever.
