This recording consists of the following files SDM12-20091222-01_SM_Lukam_MoonAndSunSongs.mpeg and SDM12-20091222-01_SM_Lukam_MoonAndSunSongs.wav; duration 12’41” (These recordings run from 24’21” to 37’02” on the video cassette numbered ASSMVDP21DEC0901) The detailed description of this recording is as follows (times on the cassette are in parentheses): Loekyam sings several types of song jyoepo Qhyoe ‘moon song’, rangxai Qhyoe ‘sun song’, wueralap Qhyoe ‘hornbill feather song’ and wakngi we Qhyoe ‘wild pig tooth song’. This was filmed while Lukam was preparing decorations for the Wihu festival. Another song called khangli khuephuk Qhyoe ‘helnet song’ also exists. 0’45” (25’06”) jyoepo Qhyoe ‘moon song’ cham chhung ta se la – also called cham chijyoe gai ‘spirit of rice song’. 1’54” (26’15”) khangli Qhyoe. This tells how helmet was received from the sun (san²wang² tai¹ ~ we¹, a male), and the moon (hum²jam² wi¹ ~ nyu¹, a female). 3’37” (27’58”) some small part of the rangxai Qhyoe. 5’41” (30’02”) rangxai nyip woen Qhyoe ‘the sunset song’; 10’19” (34’40”) discussion. This song is sung while people are coming back to the house, their work done, Also called rangxai tham Qhyoe or ben nang maq Qhyoe (coming from the field song). 11’44” (36’05”) It is a very ancient song, from long back (kuwang) it is a song of the forefathers, and the young people today do not know it.
