It was performed at the mol festival. Khapshom Joglei explained the the Sahpolo is about ‘getting the paddy enlarged’ and the festival occurred in both winter and summer. The word for paddy is tsam. The word for ‘song’ is shai and the word for dance is ro. Khapshom went on to explain that the first big mol festival in Changlang was held in 1969. In this way all the peoples had learned this dance. It may be that this dance was developed for that festival. This recording has some slight recording problems. | |
