Description: | Traditional Dreamtime story about how the rivers were forged and why there are dry and wet seasons. During the dreamtime two brolgas liked to eat honey. They ate so much of it that they became very thirsty. So they got a big coolamon and scooped up all the water from the rivers and gorges. But the frogs were unhappy about it. All the rivers were dry now and they didn't have any water to live in. So all the frogs got spears and threw the spears at the coolamon. But none of the right-handed frogs could do it. Only the left-handed frog finally succeeded and speared the coolamon. Then all the water spilled and it rained filling the rivers and billabongs again. This is why there are wet and dry seasons. | |
