He explained how the bride and groom will be introduced. The second session (following a move of the microphone, was told by Lukum. This relates to the five clans of the Ronrang, the Longti, Woiti, Chhumbu, Chhummit and Lishe. Only the first three of these are represented in Balinong.. Each of the clans can marry someone from any of the others, but at one point in the past, a Chhummit boy and a Lishe boy married two sisters from the same clan, and their respective children came to be treated as brothers, so that marriage between Chhummit and Lishe is not possible in all circumstances. There is no 2nd marriage permitted in Rera society, unless there are no children and all sides agree. If both parties and the families of both parties, a second marriage might be permitted. The third session was spoken by Winlen, about the traditional laws relating to marriage. The fourth session was spoken by Hangreh about procedures relating to marriage. (Jürgen’s note – relating to video -2’54” to end, about marriage and related laws / customs. Introduction of people present | |
