Description: | This is the story of Kovi, who was a cannibal. The people would often come to the coast to exchange food with the Saposa people. Kovi would go to the place where the food was being exchanged and whistle. A child would come to him, believing that it had been called by its mother. Kovi would take the child to his lair and eat it. The people would look everywhere for the child, but would not be able to find it. One day while the people were exchanging food, the Germans arrived. Kovi came and captured a child in the usual manner. However this child was wearing a necklace, and because of this the people were able to follow Kovi back to his hole. They began digging with the shovels that the Germans had brought. They came upon some of Kovi's hair, and tied it to a tree. They continued digging, found more hair, and again tied it to a tree. A third time they dug, found some of Kovi's hair and tied it to a tree. They eventually found Kovi lying among the bones of the children. They killed him, cooked him and ate him. He tasted bitter because he was a devil. | |
