Description: | In the past, dogs were able to speak. A man and a dog lived together in a village. One day the man left the dog to look after their settlement while he went into the bush. The man came back in the evening, and the dog told him that nobody had come. The same thing happened the next day. Another day, the man went to the bush again, leaving the dog to look after the settlement. A man came. He saw that there was nobody around, and decided to climb a coconut tree and pick some coconuts. He started climbing, and dog shouted at him to come down. He came down, but could not see who had spoken to him. The same thing happened a number of times. Eventually the man took some ashes and scattered them around the house. When he saw the dog's footprints in the ashes, he realised what was happening. He beat the dog so badly that the dog could no longer speak. | |
