Description: | Flying Fox and Eagle go to dam a river in order to catch fish and prawns. First, Flying Fox dams the river with his wings and Eagle catches the fish and prawns. Then they swap places. However, Eagle cannot dam the river properly, because his wings have holes in them. Flying Fox cannot catch much, and does not eat well. He wants to get revenge, and so he tells Eagle that it is his turn to block the water again. This time, when the river water has accumulated behind his wings, he flys off. The water carries Eagle along with it, and he becomes lodged among some stones. Only his head can be seen protruding. He calls out to the other birds to come and help him. Two small birds try to free him by removing the stones. Then one of them tries to pull Eagle out. He comes free all of a sudden, and the force causes the stones to fly all about and hit the other birds. The incidents of this story explain some characteristics of the appearance of particular birds or of their behaviour. | |
