| Description: | This is a description of traditional medicinal uses of two plants. First, Angel's trumpet (Brugmansia arborea or Brugmansia sp. 'datura') is used to calm down children suffering from the disease called ojo, 'eye'. This is an affliction that affects young children if an adult gives them a bad look or a "strong eye". A shadow from ill will or jealousy can make kids sick. It may happen when out walking at a festival for example. When the child gets home they throw lots of tantrums. The flower is used to cure the disease. The Chatino description of this illness begins at 1:00 and ends at 2:07. The second part begins at 2:50 and is about the plant called rue. Children or elderly people can become ill if they get frightened by an animal, a place, a soldier, another person, or if they get bad air or aire. The illness is called susto or espanto.
