Title:Two stories of animals that ate people
0185-Two stories of animals that ate people
Documentation of Zenzontepec Chatino language and culture
Contributor:TCR
Coverage:Mexico
Date:2010-03-15
Description:TCR relates two old legends from La Concha that his grandmother from there told him. The first is the tale of the great eagle that GCG also told in 2009. The story says that in La Concha there used to be a huge eagle that would grab children, take them away, and eat them. When the kids would go outside they had to wear a basket on their heads, so if the eagle grabbed them it would only get the basket. The second horror tale is of a large bear that used to terrorize the people of La Concha. If a man went out to work the fields and left his wife at home alone, he would return to find her entrails piled on her grinding stone, the bear having eaten the rest of her.Audio duration [00:02:48]
