Description:		In this 30 minute video recording, transcribed and translated into Spanish, a group of Cafétal residents gather in the local schoolhouse to discuss encounters with a 'pillujumu', an evil being that lives in the river. Juan Añapa Pianchiche describes an encounter his two sons had in the river with a 'pillujumu'. In this incident the 'pillujumu' took the form of an African-Ecuadorian and tried to capture one of the sons. The other son hit him with an oar and the being disappeared. One of the sons then tells the same story. Setundo Quinto then describes an incident he had with a 'pillujumu', possibly the same individual. They then discuss in general how the 'pillujumu' could have come into existence. They speculate that the shamans may have brought forth the 'pillujumu' at the bequest of a grieved mother whose child was drowned or possibly murdered by another child.
