| Description: | The Pear Stories is a video stimulus created by Wallace Chafe in the 1980's. It is a silent film depicting a main character, a young boy, who steals a basket of pears from a pear picker in an orchard. He takes the basket away on his bicycle, but then has a collision with a girl who is riding towards him. He falls from his bike (the girl rides off), and the pears spill from the basket onto the ground. As the boy is wiping the dust from his pants, 3 other boys arrive (one with a small paddle toy). The other 3 boys proceed to help the thief-boy to pick up the spilled pears, put them back in the basket, and place the basket back on top of the bike. Before riding off, the grateful thief-boy gives each helper boy a pear. They are then seen eating pears as they walk back through the orchard and pass by the perplexed pear-picker, who has realized one of his baskets if missing, but cannot figure out who took it. | |
