Contributor:Juan Seido
Coverage:Peru

Description:Cochopofe was a man from another village (the roanahua) who used to kill and eat all the people who came and visited. Everyone was scared of visiting but nobody knew why people were being killed. The story tells of one chief who wanted to visit his sister who was married to Cochopofe. Cochopofe attempted to trick the man by saying that his son was stuck in a hole in the ground and asked the man to help him dig him out while in reality he was preparing a large rock with which to crush the man's head. The man escaped and killed both Cochopofe and his son and returned to his own village with his nephews.
