| Description: | Alan Bore. CN begins with the stockcamp days when her brother was bucked off a horse and died. She then talks about how she used to cook for the stockmen. Then she talks about the area around Cattle Creek station which is Mungamunga country. She tells a story of two Mungamunga women coming and watching stockmen as they slept. She also tells the story of how her sister was taken by Mungamunga before CN was born. Therefore we need to be careful of the children in this country. She also tells a Dreaming story about the brolgas that got burnt on the nearby plain. There is also a bit of a discussion about whether you can see the rocks which is untranscribed. Nobody has seen the rocks for a while but they are large and black. They are a long way and are obscure by long grass. It is also hard to get access to the plains. More discussion follows which is not transcribed e.g. about different bush foods which we will find - kinyjirrka 'kurrajong', kurtakarla 'bush coconut from the bloodwood tree' and ngamanpurru 'conkerberry'. | |
