Description:This is a very short video. Kristine Pat intends to tell the story of Pakop and Itupo Loniu in tok ples, but instead makes a false start telling it in Tok Pisin. Recorded under Steven and Sylvia's house, with the speakers facing the road and beach.
Koro is an Oceanic (Austronesian) language spoken by several hundred people on Manus and Los Negros islands, approximately 200 miles off the north coast of the Papua New Guinea mainland. This documentation consists primarily of recorded narratives and conversations in the Papitalai dialect, spoken in Papitalai, Riu Riu, and Naringel villages.
Ingela is her nickname (a Tok Pisin pronunciation of Michaela). Michaela lives in Papitalai, but I'm not sure where she was born. She is fluent in Koro and Tok Pisin. I estimated her year of birth.
