She told him that she was a widow and it was forbidden for her to be with another man. She told him he would be beaten if they found him with her so he got scared and left. Recorded inside John Kris's haus boi, with Pauline Kewin and Kristine Pat facing the road and the bush, with the beach behind them and the village to their left. Rose Kewin can also be heard at times during the recording. | |
| Koro is an Oceanic (Austronesian) language spoken by several hundred people on Manus and Los Negros islands, approximately 200 miles off the north coast of the Papua New Guinea mainland. This documentation consists primarily of recorded narratives and conversations in the Papitalai dialect, spoken in Papitalai, Riu Riu, and Naringel villages. | ||
