Description: | Hearing that Okyeame Bekoe was preparing akpetesi, a locally made alcohol, we visited him at his working site to demonstrate to us the processes of making akpetesi. The over two-hour video covers scenes and conversations on the digging/falling of a palm tree, pruning, penetrating & creating a hole in it; the dropping of palm wine from the palm tree, collection, storage, fermentation and boiling of palm wine; and distillation, collection & tasting/testing of the final product 'akpetesi'. The elan files contain (raw) transcription of Nkami's recording and Akan translation. They have not been translated into English yet. | |
