This session shows an after-dinner conversation almost spontaneous. Dora tells us how to say "teach me because I did not learn”, and we try from that idea to talk about uses of the language and language ideologies, but without much success. Later we tried to direct the conversation towards eating habits, and we were able to describe a traditional meal that has been forgotten. From this anecdote, we try to tell a Tehuelche myth, from those collected by the linguist Jorge Suárez in 1966 and worked years later by F. Garay. Once again, Dora does not feel at ease with this type of exercises and she only translates a few sentences. These two episodes showed us that we should not insist on that, and this is how we reformulated part of the planned, and why we left the elicitations that included traditional aspects that were very marked. The rest of the material, however, is a good example of everyday conversation, with a lot of code-switching, but with an effortless use of the language. | |
