| Description: | This session is dedicated to birds, their names and their habits. We knew from experience that Dora likes birds very much and knows a lot about them. On another occasion, we had had a session on the subject, but also in winter. That is why Paulo Hidalgo dedicated himself to drawing them to present Dora Manchado the drawings and stimulate the use of the language. On July 23rd members of the community who wanted to participate in the documentation organized a language workshop, in a room from the town hall, specially reserved for the occasion. Dora did not agree with the initiative and she did not want to answer questions. She also did not want to put on the microphone. The only video of these days is the first of this session where you see Paulo and Dora looking at that folder of drawings. If she finally agreed to say the names of the birds that she was sawing, she refused to use the language to say anything else. After some other attempts around the subject of birds and animals in general (see the description of session 22), we finally chose to show Dora in her kitchen a series of short videos and photos of birds from the region. The language that is used, in addition to the names, has to do with animals and with the image that we are looking at. However, due to the fact that this session was only a few days after the end of the fieldwork (it was August 21st), we tried to use those pictures as a trigger for other sentences, too. | |

| Paulo Hidalgo is the son of Dora Manchado's closest friend. He participates very actively in the language reclamation project. He participated in the Grant application. His abilities with drawings was very useful for the recreation of some situations for the elicitation session. | ||
| Nicolas Duval, BAC student on Anhtropology, Université de Montréal. He collaborated with the fieldwork, especially with filming and archiving, and much more. | ||
| Maggie Sood, MA in Documentary Linguistics, was a co-researcher in this project. She had already visited the community and worked with Dora Manchado in 2017, and had quickly gained her confidence. | ||
