Description: | Thorgya is a festival which is celebrated with particular pomp at Tawang Gompa, with performance of dance and associated music. The dance is performed by three highly-trained performers, playing the parts of the Apa (Father/Elder) and two Mlengchung (brothers). This song describes the mountains and flowers, with a prayer to the Dalai Lama, who is described as residing inside a meta pema flower (lotus?). Ordinarily performed on the second day of the festival. This piece seemed to be based on a hexatonic scale, possibly due to the Ladakhi infuences that Lama Tashi cited.
